1. Identify the main reasons for reviewing working methods, products and / or services in a business environment.
In a business environment nothing stays the same and therefore it is likely that there will be continual review of the working methods, products or services to ensure that they are still suitable and efficient. A company will want to review its services and products so that it keeps up to date with the expectations of its customers. This will ensure the company can stay competitive and/or meet its targets/objectives. A change to a service or product offered by the company could mean that related procedures need to be reviewed to ensure they are still correct. You will find that in most businesses there is a continual process of reviewing the working methods or services, making changes to improve them, reviewing these changes and then making further changes. When the drive for change is proactive and comes from within the organisation the changes will also focus upon the same two broad areas.
Ways of working – Ways to improve performance and obtain feedback and move the business forward. •
Products and services provided – These need to be reviewed as the market place is fast pacing and constantly changing.
It’s important to do the above so that business keeps up to date with the current market.
It is usually possible for a business to assess the potential impact of change in two broad areas.
Reasons for reviewing working methods, products or services may include: •
Impact on working methods
Impact on the products or services provided.
The impact of change could affect either of these options or both, simultaneously. There will be many changes that have no impact at all on a business/organisation.
There are literally thousands of external changes happening all the time that are not relevant to an organisation or their impact is so small as to be meaningless.
