For each communication method, list its purpose in the workplace, whether it is a technical or expository form of written communication, and why you classified it as such. Written communication method Purpose in the workplace Technical or expository writing Why the classification was chosen Email Sharing of information with one person or a small number or make a request Technical and Expository An email would be technical if the intention is to convey information, but it could also be used in an expository fashion if it were used to make an attempt at persuasion. Memo Spread information to a large group of people Technical A memo is technical because it is used to communicate information about changes or coming events Letter Used to communicate with outside sources Expository Letters are used for sales or to try to convince someone to think in a certain direction Manual Training and Documentation Technical Contains technical information and instructions for different processes and items within the company Website Company intranet or website Technical and Expository The content would determine the reason for each.
